I really don't like this idea, because Newland is basically saying May is his second choice for a wife. I don't believe that Newland should be marrying May whenever there is someone else he'd rather be with, because it's not fair to May and she deserves to know the truth. I think that Newland needs to cancel the marriage now because it's a mistake, and he shouldn't be marrying someone who's not his first choice.
