The Age of Innocence, Edith Wharton's twelfth novel, was first published in 1920 in different parts in the New York monthly magazine, Pictorial Review. It was a success, and then it was published as a novel by D. Appleton and Company in New York and London. It became a major bestseller and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1921.
