This reminds me of the time in my life when we read Romeo and Juliet in my freshman year of high school. Romeo and Juliet couldn't be together just like Archer and Ellen Olenska can't be together. However, the reason Romeo and Juliet couldn't be together is because their two families are enemies and don't approve of their relationship, whereas the reason Newland Archer and Ellen Olenska can't be together is because Archer is married to Ellen's cousin, May Welland.
